Eight Sequels That Should’ve Never Been Made
Do we really need a Mrs Doubtfire 2? Really?
Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)
Sigh, they really should have known. When Keanu Reeves decided to bail on the sequel to Speed (1994) — one of the biggest and best action movies of the 1990s — and was replaced by Jason Patric, something fishy was obviously up. Still, nobody could have predicted just how awful Speed 2: Cruise Control would be. Surely the only film set on an ocean liner where a chainsaw helps save the day, this sequel made a mockery of everything Jan De Bont’s original did so well, and, like the endless Die Hard sequels, pushed the credibility of its everyday-person-in-peril plot. Sandra Bullock’s Miss Congeniality 2: Armed And Fabulous (2005) is another uncalled for sequel that is too depressing to even talk about.
