Eight Sequels That Should’ve Never Been Made

You may have heard that two beloved comedies are returning to the big screen with all new sequels in the near future: Goonies (1985) and Mrs Doubtfire (1993). People’s childhood memories just keep getting closer to resembling a box of records at a garage sale where everything must go, no matter how musky or dusty they may be.

We probably shouldn’t be surprised, though, given the head honchos in Hollywood are the kind of people who thought it was okay to give $170 million to first-time director Joseph Kosinski so he could make a sequel to a cult flop from 28 years earlier — that would be 2010’s TRON: Legacy. And although I doubt we’ll get any dodgy CGI reverse-aging of original cast members like Corey Feldman or Mara Wilson, these are projects that ultimately stink like zombies. They’re corpses reanimated by filmmakers and studio executives out of sheer laziness and boredom. I mean, can’t you already watch Robin Williams acting ker-azy on a weekly basis on his Fox8 sitcom, The Crazy Ones?

Of course, these won’t be the first silly, unasked for sequels we’ve seen. Mrs Doubtfire 2 may be the most unnecessary announcement of recent times, but these other films were just as awfully misguided and bungled.
