Under the Skin (2014)

If you missed this strange and uncomfortably captivating sci-fi/horror blend in cinemas then you’re in luck because, it’s out this week on home entertainment. The former music video director (he’s the man behind Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity” and Nick Cave’s “Into My Arms” amongst others) has crafted a film unlike any other, and certainly not a traditional take on the genre.

There’s no knife-wielding killer, nor are there any ghosts haunting houses. Rather, Scarlett Johansson plays a near-mute alien who seduces men throughout the Scottish countryside and lures them to a murky death. The unknown element is part of what makes this film so nerve-rattling. It may just be the best film of 2014.

Directed by Jonathan Glazer
Starring Scarlett Johansson
