RL Grime’s annual Halloween mix has arrived, featuring an hour of deathly drops, horror film samples, and even a shout out from Guy Fieri.

The US trap producer’s annual mix has become a staple over the years for its mix of hard and creepy hitting beats, and Halloween VIII is no exception. Sure, it might be November 1 here in Australia, but the mix is a good enough reason as any to stretch the spooky season out to this weekend.

This year’s starts super strong with a play on the terrifying string-remix of Luniz’s ’90s classic ‘I Got 5 On It’ that features in Jordan Peele’s Us, the dopplegänger slasher that captivated audiences earlier this year. Then, in a true act of horror, RL Grime adds in the voice of Guy Fieri.

“I gotta tell you dude, that Halloween VIII?,” he says. “Spicy mix dude. On fire! I’m going to have to call the Flavour-town fire department.”

As tradition, Goosebumps creator and Grime’s moniker inspiration RL Stein’s in the mix too. One marked new trend is a heap of tracks from Sable Valley, RL’s label founded earlier this year boasting the likes of Ackal, Skeler and G Jones. You’ll be able to decode Halloween VIII’s madness soon, with the master of ook and spook promising that a tracklist is on its way. For starters, we hear Denzel Curry, Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky and Megan Thee Stallion.

RL Grime will be in Australia over the New Year’s period, playing Origin Fields, Field Day and Wildlands. Listen to Halloween VIII below, or on SoundCloud.
