NAIDOC Has Announced Their 2020 Theme
'Always Was, Always Will Be'.
The theme for next year’s NAIDOC Week has been announced, and no it’s not “too strong for you Karen“.
‘Always Was, Always Will Be‘ has been chosen to recognise that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

“NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact,” a spokesperson said.
“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, our first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists.
“We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded.”
NAIDOC Week is held every year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
While it’s an event to take seriously, they couldn’t help but acknowledge the viral #toostrongforyoukaren in their official announcement on Twitter. We’re sure if the theme hadn’t already been decided, it would have been a contender.
Can we change it to #toostrongforKaren before this becomes old?
