Live Nation, one of the biggest touring companies in the world, is gearing up to suspend all tours, Billboard has reported.

The news comes in the wake of a massive series of cancellations around the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic. Coachella has been moved back six months; the NBA has suspended its entire sports season; and a string of smaller gigs and tours across the country have been pulled.

According to Billboard, Live Nation is preparing to cancel all tours for the rest of the month, and has instructed company employees to work remotely rather than coming into the office.

The article also notes that this measure will be “international” in scope, meaning that Australian tours are also included. Billie Eilish, Tool, and Post Malone are just a couple of the artists that will reportedly have their tours impacted.

Cancelling large-scale gigs is a way of “flattening the curve”, and stopping the spread of the fast-moving illness. Social distancing and self-isolation are both designed to lessen the frequency of new cases of coronavirus.
