Sounds about Queensland.

An Australian man has buried himself neck-deep in sand at the beach before scattering $1000 worth of hot chips around him in what can only be described as straight-up nightmare fuel. Or a great day out. Up to you.

As somebody with a crippling fear of birds, you truly could not pay me enough money to ever subject myself to this, but Australian comedy duo Marty and Michael did it for nothing more than some social media engagement.

In the clip posted to Instagram, dozens of seagulls and bin chickens can be seen attacking the giant pile of chips with very little regard for the man’s face, which is smack-bang in the middle of it.

The stunt was staged at a beach in Surfer’s Paradise as part of what they call a “science experiment”, although, it is unclear what they’re actually trying to achieve.

Responses to the video ranged from “this season on The Bachelor” to “this guy fucks” and, my personal favourite “ah sweet, I’ve been wondering what dad has been up to back home.”

It probably goes without saying that you shouldn’t try this at home because, well, these birds could take your eye out if they wanted to. While it’s all fun and games to watch this man nearly get attacked by a flock of seagulls, it’s worth remembering that you absolutely shouldn’t feed the seagulls when you go to the beach — especially if you’re planning on feeding them quite literally $1,000 worth of hot chips.

If the two men look familiar, it’s because they’re the same guys who stopped play during last year’s AFL Grand Final between Geelong and Richmond. At the time, the two men ran onto the field, briefly causing the game to pause during the first quarter, before being escorted out by security guards.

Perhaps we should just leave the Queensland border closed forever and let the lovely people of the Gold Coast continue to do whatever this is as far away from the rest of us as humanly possible.
