Zoe-Clare’s Massive “Ranga” Rant From ‘The Bachelor’ Has Become A Huge Meme
"We asked for diversity and 'The Bachelor' was like okay, bet. Here’s a ranga."
In case you missed it, The Bachelor returned to our screens last night with penguin suits, too many chats about Locky’s chilli intolerance, and one long-ass rant about rangas.
Now, look, The Bachelor premiere episodes are often chaotic and unhinged as we meet all the new girls desperate to impress the only man in the room. However, I don’t think anyone really ever expected that any of the ladies would go on a 10-minute rant about redheads being oppressed.
But Zoe-Clare, the resident redhead of the season, felt that Areeba — one of the only people of colour on the show — coming up to chat to Locky Gilbert during her conversation was a targeted attack against the minority of *checks notes* rangas.
Despite everyone approaching each other’s convos to steal a chat from Locky last night, as all women and men do in this franchise on the first episode so they can secure themselves a rose, Zoe-Clare simply couldn’t shake the feeling that Areeba was “targeting” her.
Sorry but “she’s targeting me because I’m a ranga!” Is the saddest thing when you are so white you’d go missing in Thredbo, and you’re talking about a BROWN WOMAN. #TheBachelorAU

Starting her absolutely bonkers rant, Zoe-Clare noted that Areeba “stealing” Locky was “disrespectful”.
“I don’t understand why out of everyone here, she’d pick me. Honestly, I get it. I’m the only redhead in the whole entire house,” Zoe-Clare said. “And the rest of them… I think the only colours are blonde, brunette, then there’s me.”
“I think that’s exactly why Areeba is targeting me. Of course, the redhead. It’s just not appropriate. What’s wrong with a ranga? I’m sorry, do you want me to dye my hair every ten seconds, I’m SO sorry but this is natural guys. This is not going anywhere!,” the redhead continued.
After some more slurred words about not caring if anyone is “black, white, caramel, whatever”, Zoe-Clare then reiterated that she was getting treated “differently” because of her hair colour and complexion. Ah, yes Zoe-Clare. The classic oppressed community of the rangas, how can any of us forget?
“You know what? I’m proud of being a ranga. I will be a ranga until the day I die. We are more striking than any other human this worth… that walks this Earth,” she rambled on. “I’m not going to bite my tongue anymore. The way people treat girls and men with red hair… needs to end. Right now.”
(For the full rant in all its deranged glory, head over to Punkee for the entire transcript. It’s worth it.)
Despite the producers on set trying to calm Zoe-Clare down, the redhead was simply so inconsolable that she skipped the rose ceremony due to “taking ill”.
As Zoe-Clare was mid-rant, the producers even tried to understand what set off her wildly emotional response. But after being asked if she had heard something or if someone had said anything about her hair, Zoe-Clare simply responded “no”.
PRODUCER: Did ANYONE mention your hair? Did someone touch it? Did they look at it. ANYONE?!
Zoe-Clare-Epponnee-Ray: No. (*Wipes tear) BUT RANGAS MATTER OK. #TheBachelorAU— Em Rusciano (@EmRusciano) August 12, 2020
Naturally, Australia just couldn’t handle the ridiculous rant and the deranged idea that white women are oppressed for simply being redheads. Even worse, the fact that Zoe-Clare tried to make herself out to be a victim and minority while talking poorly about Areeba, an actual minority who has likely felt actual discrimination in her lifetime, was just super tone-deaf.
Zoe-Clare’s Ranga Rights™️ speech was actually so unbelievable to the public that it quickly became it’s own meme, with people joking about the redhead being the new unofficial leader of the ginger lives matter campaign.
So here are all the best memes about Zoe-Clare being a ranga, the hardest thing you can ever be in life apparently:

Seriously can't believe she's upset about being marginalised for being a ranga when she's sitting next to a penguin, notoriously marginalised for being flightless birds #TheBachelorAU

Fact Check: Zoe-Clare falsely claims “I will be a ranga until the day I die”. Sources now reveal she was under the influence of peroxide from as early as January 2018 – March 2019.#TheBachelorAU #PulitzerPrize pic.twitter.com/EeGjzWfoKr

i can’t relate to having zoe’s luscious red locks or bird-like bone structure, but i can certainly relate to having ‘taken ill’ (after drinking 19 pineapple cruisers) at a party #TheBachelorAU
