‘Younger’ Season 6 Episode 11 Recap: Love Letters, Dollar Bills
Liza writes an incredibly stupid letter, and we hate it.
While searching for the title of this episode of Younger, I was confronted with a spoiler in the form of the sentence ‘Liza chooses Charles over Josh,’ so let’s preface this by saying I’m extremely mad before even watching episode 11, ‘Holding Out For A SHero.’
So, a refresher: Liza told Charles she is no longer going to see Josh. We start this week’s episode with a visit to Maggie who is gardening? Or something? Either way, she’s wearing a fantastic hat while Liza explains she can’t be around Josh without feeling certain feelings, a surefire sign you’re totally over your ex.

At the office, everyone is awkwardly bringing up Kelsey’s demotion, but she is fine. She is FINE, OKAY. “Really, I’m fine.”
At least she looks fantastic, and Diana thinks her social media incident was very tasteful. Kelsey announces to the office that Charles will be back in charge.

Diana and Liza meet with some total narc in a cardigan who talks about how millennials are on social media too much and have no boundaries, or something similarly boring. She has a book about manners, and somehow this incredibly dull conversation leads Liza to decide she is going to cut off all contact with Josh by…. writing him an old-fashioned letter.
Oh, and she sends flowers and writes a letter to Millennial saying she has decided to go with another publisher. Very courteous.
Kelsey meets with Zane who apologises for his part in the ‘incident,’ and I am starting to get the impression that she is not fine after all. She tells Zane she doesn’t know how to do this with him, and that they are cursed, a far more reasonable explanation than ‘I don’t know how to hold my wine and it causes problems for me season after season.’
Liza sits down and starts to write her Dear Josh, looking incredibly pained doing so. She thanks him for changing her life, and writes that she needs to let him go. UGH. Grow up, Liza.
Lauren tells Kelsey she’s been asked to speak at a girls’ high school. Kelsey says she is not a victim, and doesn’t want to be held as an example of sexism or be a ‘SHero.’ She will quickly change her tune as her editorial decisions are suddenly being reversed, and it’s back to the office boy’s club.
Charles and Zane are going back to publishing ‘Arabian Sea,’ and bring up a ‘satirical reimagining of Apollo 11 and an expose on DeflateGate.’ My eyes physically cannot roll further into the back of my head.
Kelsey lashes out at Liza’s relationship, saying “I didn’t have any boundaries at work and look what happened.” FATALITY.
Meanwhile, the office is sharing a song made from Kelsey’s ‘guess who got the money, honey’ mishap, which is swiftly taken down by Lauren and Liza, who remind the office that Kelsey is a hero, or a SHERO, which seems to be the word of the day.
Kelsey decides to speak at the school.
Josh is discussing paint options with the Infinitely 21 lady who is still insanely horny for him. “Seriously, Josh, unload on me,” she tells him, in case he has any corporate frustrations.
Josh does not unload anything, and instead opens the letter from Liza. Naturally he needs to take a break to sit pensively and attractively on the steps outside.
We suffer through a flashback montage of Josh and Liza’s relationship, the good and bad, the weird sex stuff in the bath.
‘The problem with memories is they lock us in the past, and we both need to move forward,’ Liza writes, and I hate it and Josh also hates it. We have so much in common.
We are also confronted with the fact that Josh somehow got hotter every season, and presumably will continue to do so.
Kelsey gives her speech to a room full of young girls, and tells them she’s not okay, and she’s angry. We know!!! There’s some fantastic feminist themes this episode, and an abundance of women lifting each other up — one of the show’s greatest strengths.
On the flipside, we’re now off to DIANA’S BACHELORETTE PARTY.
The ladies don balloon penis hats and head out on the town, to all the glitz and glamour of a male strip club. Diana has a wonderful time, and Lauren tells the fellas they should smile more.
Kelsey and Liza discuss men being terrible in the workplace, and Diana demands this stops because it is HER NIGHT. She is right to do so.
Lauren decides the best way to help Diana make a terrible decision is to head to Inkburg, which is apparently the only tattoo shop in New York and is open at all hours of the night.
Well, isn’t this awkward?
Josh confronts Liza and her frankly pretty shitty behaviour, and there’s emotion flying all over the place. Liza says she can’t do it anymore, and wants to give things with Charles a real chance. Josh finally demands Liza say it to his face — that she loves Charles more than him.
Liza obliges.
“You forget, Liza, I know you. I know when you’re lying, especially to yourself,” Josh says. “You wrote a letter to the wrong guy.” He is correct! Listen to this absolutely stunning man!!!
Someone is writing a Dear Charles letter… but it’s Kelsey. Classic misdirection.
In the same vein, Kelsey thanks Charles for everything but writes that it’s time for her to move on. Everything is so much more dramatic on a page. FIN.
This Week’s Fashion Champion:
One of the best parts of this season is Lauren becoming everyone’s cheerleader, helping all the women around her succeed and looking incredible doing so. Love this outfit, love Molly Bernard.
Team whom?
It does not even need to be said anymore, except apparently to Liza.
Get it together.
