Hitting the web via Entertainment Weekly, the new images give us a good look at the film’s primary cast, including Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. But all anyone wants to talk about is Smith, who looks… well, basically like himself in a genie costume?

Personally, I think he looks kind of cool. But diehard fans of the animated film have a ~slightly~ different opinion.

The reaction was so strong that Smith has since taken to Instagram to assure fans that yes, in the finished film, his character will be blue.
“This is how the Genie is in Human / Disguise Form,” he wrote. “My character will be CGI most of the movie.”
Crisis averted.
Aladdin hits cinemas in Australia on May 23.
