Will Ferrell on Aubrey Plaza’s surprise attack: “It was just a lot of liquor breath.”
Aubrey was ejected from the MTV Movie Awards after running on-stage to steal Ferrell's award, Kanye-style. We still love her.
Deadline are reporting that Aubrey Plaza (April from Parks & Recreation) was ejected from the Sony Picture lot where the MTV Movie Awards were being hosted, after running on stage to steal the Comedic Genius Award won by Will Ferrell.
A full five seconds of cringeworthy awkwardness ensued, as the two very gently tug-of-warred the award, before a clearly surprised Ferrell asked, “What’s happening?” and then, “Are you okay?”
Plaza, who had the name of her next film, To Do List, scrawled across her chest, let go of the award, said “yes”, and ran back to her seat near the stage. “Aubrey Plaza everyone,” announced Ferrell. “Just like we rehearsed it.”
Back in her chair, the barefooted Plaza spilled all of her drink on the floor and looked like this.
Ferrell has told MTV that “it was just a lot of liquor breath,” because apparently he is a nasty old snitch. (Aubrey, if you do wake up hungover tomorrow and want someone to eat bacon and listen to Neutral Milk Hotel with, call us.)
