The Latest TikTok Trend Is A Giant Pisstake On People Accidentally Texting The Wrong Emoji

Has someone ever sent you something so funny that the only appropriate reply is 13 laughing emojis in a row?

Well, if you’ve ever done that, then you’ve definitely also mistyped a random emoji while you manically tapped the laughing one, too. You know how it is — you’re in hysterics and just don’t notice your thumb slipping to the running man emoji you recently sent to your personal trainer or the eyes emoji that you used in a sext last night.

Lucky for us, the latest TikTok trend sees people visualising the misfortune of sending a random misplaced emoji in the middle of a bunch of laughing faces. On June 3, @crispinion started the trend by making a video where he laughed and then suddenly paused for a second to look to the side, with the caption “When you accidentally type ???????”.

However, it was only after @yuhremy recreated the original video with the female emoji (??) in early July, that the trend really started to take off. Using the laugh track from the original video and the same format, YuhRemy cackled on camera before seductively, and iconically, staring into the camera while wearing a sleek black wig.

From here the “when you accidentally type” meme just snowballed from easy-to-do facial expressions to the more ridiculous emojis available. Some even brought in props and went fancy with different camera angles to recreate the more random emojis like the bike, ballet shoes, and even the fairy emoji. But honesty, the more random and non-sensical, the better the video.
