Earlier today, Canadian rapper Drake posted his new music video, ‘5am In Toronto’, on his Twitter account, along with the odd disclaimer, “That might be like my first viral video”, which makes no sense ’cause he’s not a goat or a cute kid that just went to the dentist. Taking cues from the classic cinema verité stylings of Jean Rouch (not really), he shows us what he does in Toronto at 5 o’clock in the morning (don’t worry, it definitely doesn’t involve violently murdering Amanda Bynes’ vagina).
What does Drake do at 5 in in the morning?
1. He jauntily wanders around an industrial parking lot.
2. He smokes something (possibly illegal).
3. He drinks something (Canadian Club?).
4. He wears a Cash Money ‘Welcome to the family’ jumper, with some white jeans.
5. He takes a Goodfellas-type stroll through the backdoor entry of a blue-lit strip club. Oddly, the strip club has an indoor beach volleyball court inside it. It’s called Beach Blast and is described on their website as “Canada’s #1 indoor and outdoor beach volleyball and entertainment complex”. Add it to your next Toronto trip itinerary.
6. He rolls up something else to smoke (possibly illegal).
7. He watches as a bunch of girls dance seductively in front of him.
