Watch This Hilarious ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ TikTok Absolutely Roasting Scott Morrison
We don't talk about ScoMo.
If you’ve been on TikTok in the last few months, you’ll have undoubtedly heard ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’, the viral hit from Disney’s Encanto. Now, an Australian TikToker has made an iconic cover, shaming Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ has smashed Disney records, beating out hits like ‘Let It Go’, ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’, and ‘A Whole New World’ to chart at Number 1 on the Billboard Top 100. It’s now the highest-charting song from a Disney film.
In Encanto, every member of the Madrigal family is bestowed a magical gift by the enchanted house in which they all live — except for the family’s second youngest, Mirabel. Feeling like an outcast, despite her family’s love, Mirabel eventually learns that the family’s true outcast is her Uncle Bruno, who had the gift of seeing into the future.
In ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’, Mirabel’s sisters and aunts detail Bruno’s horrible visions, blaming him for those things coming to pass. As dark as this scene is, the song is a certified bop.
Naturally, the track’s popularity has spawned many covers, renditions, and rip-offs. And now, an Australian TikToker @juliajooj — AKA Melbourne-based singer Julia van der Hoeven — has made a cover of the song absolutely roasting Scott Morrison.
‘We Don’t Talk About ScoMo’ currently has more than 108,000 views on TikTok and features lyrics like “now, the third wave RATs no one can track / when the government won’t pay there’s no going back” and “he said by business would thrive, the next day… DEAD / we asked for empathy, he had to ask Jen”.
Van Der Hoeven has released a part one and a part two of her scathing cover, and both are absolutely worth listening to.
