Call Me By Your Name was a massive crossover hit, a star-making vehicle for Timothee Chalamet, and one of the most sensitive, beautiful films of the last few decades.

As a result, its director, Luca Guadagnino, had free rein to do pretty much whatever he wanted in the aftermath of that hit. So he did all of it. The man made his own Suspiria remake, got attached to a comedy written by Seth Rogen, briefly dabbled in an adaptation of Hannah Kent’s Burial Rites, and helmed a short film for Prada.

He also made a TV show. We Are Who We Are, a miniseries written and directed by Guadagnino, follows the growing pains of a young man living on an American army base in Italy. Starring Queen of Cool Chloe Sevigny, along with It breakout star Jack Dylan Grazer, the show — like Call Me By Your Name — is a sensitive exploration of hurt and self-becoming.

The series has gotten vivid reviews since its debut. Caroline Framke of Variety in particular loved the miniseries, calling it “so visceral as to become unsettling—but what else is being a teenager like, if not immersive, visceral and unsettling?”

Is your appetite properly whet? Well then get excited, because the show is coming to SBS On Demand extremely soon. Premiere dates are up in the air at the moment, but SBS have confirmed they have the exclusive Australian screening rights.

Sounds good to me.

We will update this story when the dates become known, so check back in soon.
