Directed by Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, and a whole heap of mumblecore), Happy Christmas follows 20-something Jenny (Anna Kendrick) who heads to Chicago to live with her brother Jeff (Swanberg) and his novelist wife Kelly (Melanie Lynskey), after her boyfriend kicks her out.
Jeff and Kelly have a kid, and a stoner babysitter.
Jenny has a drinking problem, and Lena Dunham for a best friend.
Chaos and emotions and emotional chaos ensue.
The film comes out in the States in July, but it’s heading to Sydney Film Festival next month, and made it into our top ten list. One to keep an eye on.
