Watch The New Trailer For ‘Lovesick’ Season Two, Your New Favourite Show (Probably)
It used to be called 'Scrotal Recall', but don't hold that against it.
In April 2015, Netflix quietly added a new show to it’s arsenal of Netflix Originals. Formerly of Channel 4 in Britain, the show was unfortunately named Scrotal Recall, created by Tom Edge (Pramface, Threesome). Possibly due to its highly stupid name, the series didn’t gain much traction on Channel 4, and it languished in your Netflix “Suggestions” list while you scoffed: “Why would I ever watch a show called Scrotal Recall?”
Actually, the series has turned out to be one of Netflix’s best-kept secrets. Charming, light and highly-addictive, Scrotal Recall is perfect for the binge-watching aficionado, with just six half-hour episodes in the first season. While the series slowly gained a following on the site, Netflix geared up to take over the show and add it to their slate of Originals, as Channel 4 had not plans to renew it.
So, great news on the interwebz today: Scrotal Recall, which Netflix has sensibly renamed Lovesick, is now sneakily returning to the streaming site for a second season on 17 November! And there’s a brand-new trailer to watch, and everything is good and exciting.
Lovesick follows the misadventures of hapless, hopeless romantic, Dylan (Johnny Flynn), who, when he discovers he has contracted chlamydia, must journey back through his romantic past to let all his partners know about the infection. (Each episode tackles Dylan’s history with one of his former paramours.) Along for the ride are Dylan’s best friend Luke (the hysterical Daniel Ings) and Evie (Misfits’ Antonia Thomas), who harbours secret feelings for Dylan.
The show is yet another entry into the new canon of TV rom-coms, and it’s a doozy. Funny and flirty, the show has a tender heart and three stunning central performances from Flynn, Ings and Thomas. It’s self-aware and swoon-worthy without being sickening. Basically, if you’re a young rom-com fan who hasn’t watched Lovesick, boy, are you missing out.
Season two drops very soon, so this weekend is the perfect time to head to Netflix and catch up on the first season’s six fabulous episodes. Hand-to-heart, it’ll be the best Sunday afternoon you’ve ever spent.
