Last week, dance legends PNAU swung by the Music Junkee studios to take part in our new video series The Artist Alphabet, regaling us stories of how they took a little too much LSD before performing in Brisbane, how they actually got the name ‘PNAU’, and how they first linked up with Sir Elton John.

This week it’s Wafia’s turn in the Alphabet hot seat, and she more than equalled the standard set by PNAU, walking us through how she managed to work with Billie Eilish (and her entire family) on her track ‘The Ending’, and how she was more than a little flustered by Matt Corby’s “very pretty eyes” when she met him at one of his backyard gigs a few years back.

She also recounted the story of how she decided to take an edible for the first time a few days before she performed at Coachella with Louis the Child. It, ahem, went a little awry.

“It was so intense I was high for three days, I ate two double double burgers from In-N-Out. I was definitely still feeling it on the day we had to perform ‘Better Not’,” she told Music Junkee. “It was such a profound experience for me though, I’m not really one to do that kind of thing, but that experience stayed with me because of the company that I kept — there was one person in particular who just handled the situation really well and calmed me down even though I was really talkative.

It ended up inspiring the song ‘Flowers and Superpowers’ because I was my most paranoid and talkative self there, and I kept wondering if he still loved me, despite my talkative nature — so that’s how ‘Flowers and Superpowers’ came out.”
