Far-right Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson has made some wildly ridiculous claims about mask rules in Australia and named us all “peasants”. Um, rude.

In a tirade under the banner “MORE INSANITY OUT OF AUSTRALIA”, Carlson responded to a statement by Dan Andrews from one of the billion press conferences the premier has held in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

During the press conference, Andrews said, “There will be no removal of masks to consume alcohol outdoors. So you will no longer be able to remove your mask to drink a cocktail, at a pop-up beer garden on a footpath as part of a pub crawl.”

Andrews was of course clarifying that Victorians should not find ways around the closure of pubs and bars by instead drinking from pop-up bars.

But Carlson simply declares that we are under a state of martial law, and says “Now, the peasants of Australia have to find a way to drink alcohol through their masks.”

Needless to say, he was dragged mercilessly.
