The New Trailer For ‘True Detective’ Seems To Indicate This Season Might Not Be Shit
I mean, it can't be worse than season two, right?
HBO has released the first full length trailer for True Detective season three. And at the risk of jinxing things, it actually looks like not a total piece of shit.
The Extremely Serious Cop Drama™ scored rave reviews in its first season before falling in a heap with season two. Not that there weren’t some great moments — who could forget Colin Farrell threatening to murder that kid’s parents! But it didn’t exactly bode well for the series going forward.
How good is prestige TV?!!
With season three, the show looks to have gone back to its roots, with a brooding cop haunted by a cold case that plays out across multiple timelines. Plus they’ve got Oscar winner Mahershala Ali on board, which goes a long way to making anything seem watchable.
On the other hand, the trailers for season two were also pretty great. So… y’know.
True Detective season three will premiere in the US on January 13.
