Sexy elfin rake Tom Hiddleston has sent his sizeable and generally horny fandom into overdrive this morning, tweeting out a mysterious video that appears to be announcing a new project… of some kind.

The man known to most as Thor’s cheeky bro Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe posted the minute-long video to Twitter overnight, which alone is groundbreaking news as the dude generally does not tweet. Seriously this is his second tweet of 2018, so you know it has to be important.

In the single-shot clip, a bearded Hiddleston walks moodily down a barely lit tunnel, pausing momentarily before a single tear falls down his extremely lick-able face and the word “BETRAYAL” slaps onto the screen.

Absolutely no one knows what the shit is going on here though, with rampant speculation about what project this could possibly be referring to joined by the general hysterics and threats of murder we’ve come to expect from a standom such as Tom’s.

Hahaha stans frighten me tremendously!

After the wigs had settled, serious investigations into what the shit this is commenced in earnest, with people piecing together various clues to come up with theories surrounding Sad Pink Tom.

The current front-runner is that the video is announcing his involvement in an adaptation of 1978 play Betrayal by Harold Pinter, a playwright Hiddleston has previously praised.

Whilst that’s the most likely explanation it’s also the most boring, so let’s all pretend it’s actually a promo for the recently confirmed live-action Marvel TV Show all about our fave Asgardian Loki.

Yeah, it’s almost definitely to do with that theatre play thingo, but a boy can dream.
