Please Enjoy Tom Gleeson Rubbing His Gold Logie Win In The Face Of ‘Sunrise’, While On ‘Sunrise’

Newly minted Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson appeared this morning on Sunrise to discuss his rather controversial Logies win.

Gleeson’s win was basically a big old joke, which managed to rile people up by both pointing out the inherent lack of dignity in Australia’s TV Week Logies, and by carrying out an attack campaign on the other nominees, including Sunrise colleague Sam Mac.

In an interview with David Koch and Samantha Armytage, he responded to their questions about the controversy by basically reinforcing how pointless the whole thing was. But, he also got in some good digs at Sunrise along the way, which is always appreciated by us at Junkee.com.

“God bless you, doing breakfast television — you do rate very well, you probably rate half as much as my show does.”

“Nooooooo,” hoots Kochie, visibly annoyed at the dig.

“Yes, it’s really strange — the ABC which doesn’t really need Logies totally cleaned up. We’re government funded, this was a complete waste of everybody’s time. I mean, my show was going to be renewed anyway, my show’s renewed, it makes no difference,” continues Gleeson.

One of the people most annoyed by Gleeson’s campaign was Grant Denyer, who Gleeson famously campaigned to win the Gold Logie last year (and succeeded) despite Denyer not even having any shows on TV.

“I know,” says Gleeson, talking about Denyer.  “And he had five shows this year, and didn’t even get nominated — what conclusion do you draw from that?”

Anyway, watch the whole thing, it’s very satisfying watching Sunrise smile and laugh through their own roasting.
