The Studio 10 team have turned the tables on comedian Tom Gleeson after he roasted host Sarah Harris during a recent instalment of ‘Hard Chat’.

Harris was Gleeson’s guest during his regular segment on The Weekly in early August, where she was mocked by the comedian for her work on Studio 10, a show he said “makes Sunrise look like Four Corners“. But Harris got her own back when Gleeson was on her turf on Tuesday morning.

“When you were at uni, you played drums in a band. How did you end up playing second fiddle on The Weekly?” Harris asked.

“Charlie [Pickering] can be quite abrasive, so I’m there just to take the edge off his unappealing personality,” Gleeson replied.

Harris’ co-host Angela Bishop also got in on the action, joking that Gleeson’s entire career had been “funded by the tax payer” and asking whether his obsession with “hard things” was just his way of “compensating for something”.

“To be honest I’m hard all the time,” said Gleeson. “If anything I need to soften my image.”

Asked about losing his old job on radio, the comedian told the pair that “our ratings were very low”.

“I feel that you would know what that feels like here at Studio 10,” he added.

But the most brutal moment came from Denise Scott, who described Gleeson as “middle-aged, overweight, balding and going nowhere,” before backtracking with “oh, that went a bit harsh.”
