Today In Internet Hyperbole: “Mila Kunis’ Career-Defining Interview”
Mila Kunis being Mila Kunis...
Sometime over the early Internet hours, Mila Kunis took part in an amusing interview to promote her new movie Oz: The Great And Powerful with BBC Radio 1’s, Chris Stark, a celebrity interview virgin who, as some clever commenter put it, comes across a bit like the bumbling lovechild of “Hugh Grant and Karl Pilkington”. Seeing as the dudes at Vulture referred to the clip as Mila’s “career-defining interview”, we hazarded a click, ’cause, you know, Jackie Burkhart.
Holding a couple of ridiculously over-sized microphones, the two engage in some sorta meta breakdown of the traditional star/reporter scenario: Mila sprints through an impressive array of “answers to questions I know you’re gonna ask”, and Stark, in the way many male journalist nerds often approach interviews with attractive young starlets, proceeds to flirt awkwardly and ultimately invites Kunis to join him on a date at a Watford FC match (Watford: Elton John’s team).
Yeah, the interview’s fun, but it’s not exactly Michael Parkinson slut-shaming Helen Mirren or a cool-as-shit Marlon Brando intimidating the pants off Dick Cavett like a veteran prisoner to his new cellmate. Mila Kunis has always been one of Hollywood’s most down-to-earth stars, whether she’s discussing World of Warcraft or calling out some reporter in Russian; to call this “career-defining” is… well, just the Internet being the Internet.
In summary, whatever Internet.
