Tkay Maidza’s run of near-perfect releases has continued with the drop of ‘Kim’ — her shit-hot new single with Yung Baby Tate.

The track is a followup to her Last Year Was Weird, Vol. 2 EP which she delivered last year, which earned her an ARIA nom and was named one of Music Junkee’s best releases of 2020.

The song is classic Tkay — all shuddering synths and backbreaking beats — and the video is something else, as Tkay channels three iconic Kims: Kim Possible, Kim Kardashian, and Lil’ Kim. You’ll spot the internet-breaking PAPER mag cover, the ‘Bound 2‘ video, and Lil’ Kim’s 1999 MTV VMAs outfit.

“The idea for the song came from Kim Possible, an iconic figure in my childhood – she always came out on top,” Maidza said of the single. “I thought why not make a song to remind those who question me that I will always figure it out like Kim. From there when we starting planning a video we thought why not recreate iconic moments from other iconic Kims, across generations.”

Put simply, it’s a goddamn moment. Watch the full video below:
