TikTok user ‘joeyyikes’ is on a quest to get a hummingbird to land on him, and it’s the wholesome energy we need right now. 

With so much depressing and anxiety-inducing news in our lives at the moment, we are becoming incredibly thirsty for wholesome and sweet content. We are as thirsty for it as the little hummingbirds in Joey Ballantyne’s yard are for sugar water.

Joey goes by ‘joeyyikes’ on TikTok, and is on a mission to have one of the hummingbirds that use the feeder in his front yard land on him. Why does he want this? The answer seems to be….why not?

It all started when Joey posted a TikTok of him holding a little cup of water, trying to entice the hummingbird from its feeder onto his hand.

Each day’s post sees him trying a new tactic, including putting sugar water on himself. Soon, his personal mission became enthralling for many, with people tuning in to see his progress, and to also offer suggestions.

He takes suggestions such as ‘be the bird feeder’ and ‘get rid of your human scent’, and posts the results.

Hummingbirds are so cute, and he is going to great lengths to succeed, and it’s just all delightful.

He is now up to Day 15, and he is getting closer to success. His latest post sees the hummingbird land on the glasses he is wearing, and it’s legitimately thrilling.

Many people are commenting on the ‘himbo energy’ of the posts, and really enjoying how gentle and soft it all seems.
