These Girls Turned Their Own Car Crash Into A Very Funny TikTok
It looks like ABC's 'Content' just happened in real life.
Earlier this year, the ABC’s Content — reportedly the world’s first show entirely set on a phone screen — went accidentally viral. In one scene, a wannabe influencer gets into a car crash and continues live-vlogging with the car flipped: online, it was endlessly re-shared online, losing any content and believed by most to be real. And now, art seemingly imitates life.
Four days ago, TikTok user @katie.cornetti reposted her own video of a friend and her upside down in a crashed car, both completely fine. Instead of crawling out, the two decide to film their own version of a TikTok trend set to Ashnikko’s ‘STUPID (feat. Yung baby Tate)’ where they lip-sync along to demonic laughter.
“Reposting bc us being trapped in our flipped over car didn’t get enough attention,” the caption reads.
She was right to do so. In the past four days, it’s picked up 126,000 views and counting, impressive from an account whose previous videos sit in the 100s mark. Compare the pair: first, @katie.cornetti’s video, then Content‘s:
For reference, Katie is fine. She’s since posted another TikTok where she and her friend re-create their flip and leaving without a scratch to Mak Sauce’s ‘Good Morning’, because everything is content.
And possibly Content, too — the whole situation is eerily similar to the ABC show’s plot, and @katie.cornetti is steadily growing followers. The share from YouTuber @zane certainly won’t hurt.
Junkee has reached out to @katie.cornetti to ask about her car crash (and whether she’s seen Content), but at the moment, we’re erring towards the side of this being real. Her other videos are decidedly low-key, and tracing her social-media presence, the whole thing seems pretty authentic.
Then again, if anyone could pull off a fake car crash, it’d be a 16-year-old aspiring TikTok star. We’ll keep you updated if we hear back.
