Harry Styles Fans Are Still Waiting For Ticketek Refunds Months After His Aussie Tour Was Axed

Ticketek is under fire for stringing out refunds for customers over postponed concerts that have since been cancelled due to COVID.

In instances documented on TikTok, Harry Styles fans have claimed the ticketing giant has been insisting they can’t find any record of their transactions. In other cases, people say they haven’t received refunds despite Ticketek insisting they’ve been paid out.

The UK singer was originally set to bring his ‘Love on Tour’ concert down under in November 2020, but it was unable to be rescheduled over lockdowns, restrictions, and border closures. “The current arena tour will be cancelled whilst we work towards a new tour, with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly,” said Live Nation in January.

One woman from Sydney said she is waiting on a refund of $3200 for VIP tickets for his Australian and New Zealand performances, while other concertgoers have only seen action taken after threatening to talk to media or national regulators.

Other events affected include a bull riding event in Newcastle; a family told A Current Affair they were promised a refund within 30 days last November from Ticketek and were yet to see it land in their account come February.

Data seen by the ABC from the NSW Office of Fair Trading shows that Ticketek made it to the top three most complained businesses between October to December last year, racking up 75 complaints in that period, and 285 complaints over the last two years.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission told the broadcaster that they were across the complaints, and would let Ticketek know their “expectations and really encouraging better communication”.

“Our teams are working around the clock with additional resources and technology to resolve outstanding refunds as quickly as they can,” said a Ticketek spokesperson, while also stating the company is processing 20 times more refunds than pre-pandemic times.

“Everybody who has requested a legitimate refund can rest assured that they will receive it as soon as we are able to process their request in full,” they said in a statement.
