In you live somewhere other than Queensland or New South Wales, you might not realise that tonight was the night of the final State of Origin game. It was a contest that shaped up as an epic showdown, the latest explosive chapter in a rivalry as old as time. All this, despite the fact that Queensland had already won the first two games in the best of three series, rendering tonight’s outcome completely and utterly meaningless.

Still, the mighty Blues have never been fazed by something as trivial as mathematics, and after a hard fought game and miraculous last minute try, the home team emerged victorious.

The celebrations were spectacular. In the case of prop Aaron Woods, perhaps a little too spectacular.

It’s not even entirely clear what Wood is trying to do here, but whatever it is, he stuffs it up in the most magnificent fashion imaginable. And keep in mind, these guys lost the series.

In any other week, the above would be the best piece of footage from a rugby match, guaranteed. As it stands, it’s a tough call between this and that cat that ran onto the field during the Sharks v. Panthers game on Sunday.
