There’s A ‘Cruel Intentions’ Musical Coming To New York City, May The Nineties Never Die
How much are flights to New York?!
In news that should make ’90s kids very, very happy, a musical adaptation of Cruel Intentions is heading to New York.
Cruel Intentions: The Musical will hit the stage for three nights only at Manhattan’s (Le) Poisson Rouge theatre on February 11, 13 and 14. And truly, I can think of no better way to spend Valentine’s Day than watching a cast of young, attractive actors plot and scheme and make out with one another while ‘Every You Every Me’ by Placebo plays in the background.
The show, which is packed to the brim with ’90s tunes from the likes of Blur, Counting Crows and The Verve, was previously performed in Los Angeles in 2015, where it was seen by the original film’s stars Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair.
The show’s creators Jordan Ross and Lindsey Rosin told The Hollywood Reporter that they hoped the initial New York run would eventually lead to an extended season Off-Broadway.
“The idea was always to head to New York,” said Ross. “It’s like bringing Kathryn and Sebastian back home.”
