The Viral Video Of The Week Has Just Been Topped By Tummy Farts

Making out with someone for the first time can be nerve-wracking. There’s those awkward moments just before locking lips, where you both know where the whole thing’s going. You catch their eyes for a few seconds, then quickly look away with a bit of a giggle. Maybe you break the awkward moment with a “this is awkward” meta-comment. And then the wait is finally over, and you bash your teeth into theirs. Romantically.

‘First Kiss’, which went viral a few days ago, captured these moments perfectly and didn’t spare on the cheesiness. With some crescendo, black and white hues and extreme close-ups, filmmaker Tatia Pilieva cut together a cute video (soundtracked by Soko) of 20 strangers kissing for the first time.

In just three days, the video did the rounds on Twitter and Facebook and is sitting on 44.5 million views. Many thought the video was cute, with some calling it “a beautiful thing”. If you were a bit cynical about the whole thing, you weren’t wrong: it turned out to be an advertisement for fashion label, Wren, featuring singer-actress Soko, Z-Berg of OK Go and a bunch of other actors, models and professionally attractive people.

The internet did what it does when anything goes viral: it turned it into a meme. There have been a few parodies popping up on YouTube, most of them centring on other intimate first moments in a relationship: such as the first time you give someone a raspberry (or tummy fart), and that moment you break your fist bump virginity.
