We’re still wading our way through all the big news out of Disney’s D23 Expo over the weekend. There’s the Star Wars trailer, new High School Musical and Lizzie McGuire shows, the other Star Wars trailer, and more Marvel content than any reasonable person could possibly require.

Also, they remade Lady and the Tramp.

Yes, Disney’s money-printing reboot juggernaut has come for the movie in which two dogs share a bowl of spaghetti, and probably some other stuff happens too. Look, it’s been a while since I’ve seen the original, okay?

Safe to say this remake, which features the voice talent of Justin Theroux and Tessa Thompson, probably won’t be quite as big as the new Aladdin or Jungle Book. That’s not a dig, but let’s be honest: these pups don’t have quite the same levels of pop-cultural cache. That’s probably why Disney isn’t releasing the movie in theatres, instead of sending it straight to its soon-to-be-launched streaming service Disney+.

But hey, at least there are actual dogs in it. None of that creepy CGI Lion King shit here!

Lady and the Tramp will be available to stream on Disney+, which launches in Australia on November 19.
