The Internet Thinks The Simpsons Maybe Also Predicted A Squirrel At The Winter Olympics
"Oh no, there's something wrong with its breaks!"
In the latest instalment of bizarre things that were predicted by the eerie witches at The Simpsons, a former writer on the show has claimed that they predicted the hapless Winter Olympics squirrel that won our hearts and minds.
Let’s just get this straight — The Simpsons are our generation’s Nostradamus, except massively more quotable. They have predicted, with hilarious accuracy, such insane things as a recent outbreak of Ebola, the Fox-Disney merger, and the irrational rise of President Trump. It’s become more than a coincidence, and something less than a joke.
Recently, The Simpsons got ultra-specific in predicting the US Curling team’s gold medal win over Sweden in the Winter Olympics, a relatively unforeseen event that the show used their witchy powers to predict eight years ago in a season 21 episode titled ‘Boy Meets Curl’.
No one could have predicted that the US would win curling gold, right? Actually, the Simpsons did in a February 14, 2010 episode. They beat Sweden, who the US happened to beat to win gold today (H/T @dansnierson) pic.twitter.com/0gkhycQ3xF

In this episode, Homer and Marge form a mixed curling team with Agnes and Seymour Skinner and are picked to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. In Canada, Homer and Marge’s team also crush the Swedish curling team to claim victory.
In all the excitement, former Simpson’s writer Josh Weinstein has pointed out that the show may have predicted the rogue squirrel that famously appeared at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The squirrel narrowly avoided being smooshed by Austrian snowboarder Daniela Ulbing‘s parallel giant slalom heat.

The episode is from the eighth season of the show, where Homer gets trapped in a cabin with Mr Burns during an avalanche, on a team-building exercise in the mountains. The cabin takes off like a rocket, and in the process, almost crushes a squirrel.
It’s been pointed out that this is a huge reach, and doesn’t even particularly reference the Winter Olympics, but we can’t rely on prophecy being 100% specific all the time. The important thing, is that Twitter is convinced that this is another example of The Simpson’s other worldly foresight.
These are getting frighteningly obscure https://t.co/khepDVa3qG

Simpson’s predictions, is there anything they can’t do?????

When will the IOC finally bring rockethouse back to the Olympics?

Guys, we are taking this, "Simpson's called it" thing too far. A squirrel running across the snow in the Olympics has no correlation to a squirrel in the snow on an episode of The Simpsons. Literally none.
