The USA curling team have spectacularly beat favourites Sweden, grabbing their first ever Winter Olympic gold in the event. While that’s probably fairly impressive in itself, what’s even greater is that The Simpsons predicted this happening in an episode that aired a solid eight years ago.

By now we have to assume that every writer on The Simpsons was a powerful witch, who can pierce the veil of time as easily as writing a hilarious animated comedy.

They’ve predicted everything from Ebola to the horse meat scandals to the buying of Fox by Disney.

If that doesn’t impress you, they not only predicted Donald Trump’s presidency, but also his exact weight.

In their latest example of wizardry foresight, The Simpsons managed to predict the underdog win of the US men’s curling team, who managed to pull off an upset against the favoured Swedish team. Thanks to this,  the US took home their first gold medal in the sport.

Social media was quick to remember that The Simpsons had depicted a similar USA triumph eight years ago in a season 21 episode titled ‘Boy Meets Curl’. In this episode, Homer and Marge form a mixed curling team with Agnes and Seymour Skinner and are picked to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

In Canada, Homer and Marge’s team also crush the Swedish curling team to claim victory. Bloody spooky.
