The Seven Hottest Countries Of 2013
... We may have officially run out of list ideas.
Here at Junkee, we worship natural beauty. Whether it’s dangerous curves or waifish elegance, old-school glamour or cutting-edge style, sensuality or sophistication — if it gets our blood up, we don’t discriminate. Here, we count down the seven countries that drove us wild in 2013.
The one thing they have in common? They’re all hot hot hot!

#7: Chile
Ooh la la! Chile had all the moves in 2013, remaining south of Peru, where it has resided for millennia. Always a flirt, it was seen cosying up to Argentina at The Andes, despite the presence of old flame Bolivia.
It was long, it was slender, it was fabulous.
#6: Swaziland
A little country with a big heart, Swaziland won many admirers this year for its brave portrayal of a landlocked nation with a predominantly agrarian economy.
It may have had its share of controversies, but we like our southern African constitutional monarchies with a bit of spunk.
#5: Somalia
The horn-rimmed honey from the Horn of Africa, Somalia set sophisticated pulses racing in 2013.
Brains, beauty and access to strategically significant shipping lanes? Where do we sign up?
#4: Japan
This fiery femme puts the tectonically active in ‘tectonically active’. As mountainous as it is socially conservative, Japan is one dangerously alluring Pacific island chain.
#3: Finland
This Nordic beauty looked like a stumpy finger with a bit sticking out at the top. It was covered in snow with an excellent school system — and frankly, we couldn’t get enough of it!
#2: Russia
Who said big isn’t beautiful? Nobody told yummy mummy Russia, who proved once and for all that repressive, authoritarian governments controlling immense, climatically diverse countries do have more fun.
#1: Mexico
Wikipedia says: Mexico, officially the United Mexican States and also referred to as the United States of Mexico, is a federal constitutional republic in North America. It is bordered on the north by the United States; on the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; on the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and on the east by the Gulf of Mexico.
We say: You go, girl!
