Post-apocalyptic teen drama meets deadly, deadly weather in the first trailer for Netflix’s The Rain, a show that will presumably feature many dramatic scenes of soggy young people writhing around in agony whenever there’s inclement weather.

Set six years after a virus spread by — you guessed it — the rain has devastated most of humanity, the series follows a pair of Danish siblings who join up with a group of young survivors and trek across Scandinavia in search of any remaining traces of civilisation.

The 30-second teaser is packed with ominous images of abandoned cities and stormy skies, although the effect is slightly undercut by the tagline “stay dry, stay alive”, which I think we can all agree just sounds silly.

It’s also not clear whether anyone in this show has heard of umbrellas.

The Rain will premiere on Netflix in Autumn.
