When terrible things happen, you can generally count on Waleed Aly to address them in a grim, powerful editorial on The Project’s ‘Something We Should Talk About’ segmentTo mark the upcoming National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, though, Aly is stepping aside, and bringing in a pretty special cast instead.

In tonight’s episode, Margot Robbie, Troye Sivan, Johnathan Thurston, Liam Payne, Peking Duk, and a bunch of other stars come together to deliver an important message to young people experiencing bullying: speak up, and know that you are not alone. Joining them will be Tick Everett, the father of Amy “Dolly” Everett, a fourteen year old girl who took her own life earlier this year, and who experienced serious cyber bullying in the months leading up to her death.

“It’s hard to think of a subject that affects so many people in such a quietly awful way,” Waleed Aly told Junkee. “We’ve reached a point where talking about this is just so important, but it needs to be led by voices our young people really listen to. Gathering those voices in one place is the best contribution we could make.”

The hope is that the segment, written by Aly and The Project’s Managing Editor Tom Whitty, will be more likely to reach the kids and teenagers who most need it most, because it’s being shared by the people they look up to. It ends with a message Dolly Everett wrote before she died: speak, even if your voice shakes.
