One of the most touching and emotional episodes of The Office was the departure of Steve Carell’s bumbling mess of a manager Michael Scott.

In his final episode, ‘Goodbye, Michael?’ Michael Scott has decided to leave a day earlier than planned, and he manages to say goodbye to everyone in the office except for Pam.

Jim, however,  manages to get her to the airport in time for a touching farewell.

However, we have no idea what was said, as the two characters are not currently wearing microphones in that scene — remember how the entire premise of The Office is that it’s a documentary?

But in a recent Instagram Live video, Jenna Fischer who plays Pam finally answered the question fans have been asking for years: what did Pam say to Michael in that final episode?

“That was me talking to Steve. I told him all the ways I was going to miss him when he left our show. Those were real tears and a real goodbye,”Fischer told her Instagram followers. “That was a really emotional scene.”

It didn’t seem possible for the unsaid lines to match the hype after all these years, but that’s… that’s actually incredibly sweet.
