A Movie Poster Appeared In The NYC Subway Without Any Title, Puzzling Commuters In The Process

"Vikings? Vikings who are going through a really tough time."

Our thoughts go out to the individual responsible for The Northman‘s movie poster, who we assume is hiding under their doona at this time.

The poor sod included everything you need to know about Robert Eggers’ latest film — except for what it’s actually called.

Featuring Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, and Anya Taylor-Joy decked out in wigs and crazy headpieces, the posters made their debut in NYC subway stations before swiftly being peeled down. In the meantime, though, commuters were left to wonder what on earth this film was.

People on Twitter did then what they do best and came up with their own movie titles, which included The Flintstones 2: Bad Day In Bedrock, Ice Age: Collision Course, and The Robert Eggers Movie. Vulture reporters also did god’s work and asked commuters at Greenpoint Avenue — a subway station that reportedly took a minute to take the posters down — what they thought the movie was about.

“Like Waterworld 2 or something,” one punter said. “Postapocalyptic, but it’s tribal, so it kind of has this vibe from Neanderthal, Viking eras. But maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s like Atlantis or something. There’s definitely war and some colonial objectives.”

Another woman simply remarked that she recently saw Nicole Kidman on TV. “I didn’t watch this movie yet, and I didn’t actually hear about it. Oh, with Nicole Kidman! Oh my God. I saw her on the Oscars!”

Vulture then found a person who totally nailed it: “Vikings? Vikings who are going through a really tough time”.

And look, can someone get Robert Eggers on the phone? Because Vikings: Vikings Who Are Going Through A Really Tough Time sounds like a much better sell to me than The Northman. It’s time to normalise straightforward movie titles, I reckon.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to watch the 2002 hit, A British-Asian Girl Gets Really Into Soccer.
