The New Backstreet Boys Documentary Is Simultaneously Wonderfully Nostalgic And Super Depressing
Lots of staring into space.
In a tale that seems all too similar, yet another boy band is releasing a documentary in the hopes to pull them back from the depths of obscurity that is reality television, slight weight gain, and rumours of a drug problem.
Like a group of phoenixes dressed entirely in white, The Backstreet Boys are trying to choreograph their way back into your hearts with their new documentary, Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of.

To be released in theatres on January 30th, Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of could be an early contender for an Academy Award (said no one ever). But seriously, The Backstreet Boys want everyone to know that this guy, Lou Pearlman, was big, mean, and really took them for a ride, okay?
If anything they just want answers.
The official trailer is filled with boyband frivolities, adoring fans and a scene in which you can see Nick Carter scream “I’m not afraid of you anymore!”, presumably into a pillow his therapist is having him believe is Lou Pearlman.
Alternatively, the team at Vulture have had a sneak peak at the doco and it all seems a bit more bleak. Cue Howie asking “was it ever real?”

Either way, Backstreet’s back alright!
