The Nanny And Mr Sheffield Had A Mini-Reunion Because Weird TV Love Is Forever

CC and Niles were absent. They were probably doing some BDSM stuff in the basement.

It’s been 17 years since The Nanny was last on TV, and I am more invested in the relationship between makeup salesperson-turned babysitter Fran Fine and musty old dinner jacket Mr Sheffield than ever. She is an accident-prone walking car alarm. He is a ridiculously naive and self-obsessed amalgamation of every rich dude in the world. Together, they are perfection and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.

Now, satisfying all ’90s kids who were fooled into thinking this was a healthy depiction of love, the actors who played the two characters have reunited. Charles Shaughnessy (of course his name is Charles) visited Fran Drescher’s house last weekend to celebrate Renée Taylor’s birthday (Taylor played Fran’s mum, Sylvia). In some cute group shots, Shaughnessy adorably called Taylor his “mother-in-law”.

The couple who were married towards in the later seasons of the show then had a big ol’ hug, inspiring hundreds of comments asking them to do a new reunion show.

This is something they’ve toyed with in the past. In 2004, the show’s cast had an official one-night reunion called A Nosh To Remember; a few years ago, Shaughnessy briefly starred as a love interest on Drescher’s sitcom Happily Divorced; and the pair often adorably surprise each other on talk shows. But, in lieu of anything more official on the horizon, here’s a very tacky YouTube supercut of them smooching.

You’re welcome.
