The Chaser Absolutely Shit On Harvey Norman With The Help Of A Spruiker Outside Their Store

The boys over at The Chaser have kindly decided to lend Harvey Norman a helping hand after the retailer absolutely shit the bed this week.

If you personally somehow avoided getting blocked by the company’s Twitter account on Monday, then you may have gotten a taste of Harvey Norman’s absolutely bonkers Twitter presence.

While #BoycottHarveyNorman is a regular trending topic on Twitter, the latest anger towards the company comes after news broke that Harvey Norman was allegedly pushing for a minimum wage freeze despite company profits skyrocketing by 160 percent during the pandemic.

As it turns out, Harvey Norman actually took in a reported $22 million in JobKeeper while managing to make $462 million in the second half of 2020 — and co-founder Gerry Harvey announced he has no plans of paying any of the taxpayer-funded support back.

Instead of using the JobKeeper money or that extra profit to reward workers with a 3.5 percent wage increase, Harvey Norman has decided to advocate for a pay freeze… and block anyone and everyone who questions why.

But if that wasn’t already bad enough, Harvey Norman just continued to dig their hole deeper and deeper when the person running the official company account responded horrifically to someone who shared their negative experience of working at the retailer.

“Working for your God-forsaken company drove me to suicide in six months,” the ex-employee tweeted as the official Twitter account responded with a facepalm and waving emoji. Yikes.

So yeah, I think it’s safe to say Harvey Normal has well and truly lost it.

To add a bit of salt to the wound, The Chaser naturally decided to kick Harvey Norman while they were already down by setting up a Suprise Spruiker right in front of one of their stores to drum up some extra business.

“Alright shoppers, come on down to Harvey Norman where it’s absolute JobKeeper madness,” the clip starts, while the remaining workers stare in confusion.

“We’re on a total Twitter blocking bonanza. Discounts, discounts, discounts,” the spruiker shouts, turning Harvey Norman’s own words against them. “We’ve got discounts on fridges, we’ve got discounts on fireplaces, hell we’ve even got discounts on our workers!”

“We’ve gone absolutely crazy on Twitter, blocking anyone. We’ll block workers, we’ll block union members, hell we’ll even block ourselves. There’s absolutely no one who’s off-limits when it comes to blocking!” he continues.

“With pay rates like these, you literally cannot afford to leave the store!”

While there’s has still been no explanation as to where the Harvey Norman Twitter page has gone or any statements released about the chaotic presence the company has online, we simply must thank The Chaser and their Surprise Spruiker for doing God’s work.
