‘The Batman’ Promises To Be The Horniest, Bleakest Dark Knight Movie Yet
The trailer features everything from an unrecognisable Colin Farrell to a brooding Robert Pattinson.
By this stage, given how many reboots of the Batman mythos there have been, one could expect that the Caped Crusader has been depicted in every possible light. But then there’s the trailer for Matt Reeves‘ The Batman, a noir epic that promises a truly fresh spin on everyone’s favourite playboy-turned-vigilante.
Clearly inspired by the iconic comic book series Batman: The Long Halloween, the forthcoming film is the first to really drill down into Batman’s moniker as the “World’s Greatest Detective.” Of course, he still finds time to punch a couple of ne’er-do-wells, but this is the Bat as an investigator, first and foremost, trying to solve a series of cryptic clues dropped by the evil Riddler (Paul Dano.)
So far, details on the film have been kept under fairly tight wraps, and though the new trailer is filled with a wealth of fresh footage, the actual plot of the thing is still fairly oblique. We have the aforementioned Riddler, captured by police and interrogated by Batman. We have Selina Kyle, AKA Catwoman, (Zoe Kravitz), seductively running her fingers over Batman’s mask. We have the Penguin, depicted here as an antsy mob boss and played, unrecognisably, by Colin Farrell under a metric tonne of make-up.
And we have scenes of the Caped Crusader battling hordes of goons, showing off his bullet-proof armour and electrocuting one particularly unlucky soul in the neck. So yes, this is Batman as you have never seen him before on the big screen, bleaker and hornier than ever before.
According to early reports, the film will feature gravelly voice-over from Batman, and will run to almost three hours in length. Sounds pretty good to us.
The Batman drops in cinemas next March 22, 2022. Don’t know about you, but we can’t wait. Watch the trailer in full right here:
