Tenacious D Have Made A Glorious Return With A Mind-Melting Beatles Medley
Cover of the year?
For almost three decades now, Tenacious D have been a force of good for the world.
Sure, they are first and foremost a novelty rock band, well-known for their mind-bending ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’-inspired monolith ‘Tribute’. But they’ve also spent more time and energy than most directing their powers for social good, supporting charities and encouraging their audience to get out and change the world.
For instance, just last November the band recorded a hilarious cover of ‘Time Warp’ from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with all proceeds going to support Rock the Vote, a charity aimed at getting young people more engaged with the political process.
And then today, in the early hours of this morning, the band dropped another socially-conscious cover, this one directing proceeds towards Doctors Without Borders.
The song in question? ‘You Never Give Me Your Money/The End’ by The Beatles, two of the best tracks from the all-time great record Abbey Road.
In typical Tenacious D fashion, the group make the song their own, adding in acoustic guitar solos and finding space for Jack Black to show off his insanely impressive pipes. It’s The Beatles on PCP, basically, and every second of it rules.
