The Trailer For The English Remake Of ‘Call Your Agent!’ Just Dropped
A British remake! Imagine that.
The French Netflix series Call Your Agent! — which traces the lives of Parisian talent agents dealing with the biggest stars of French cinema — is pretty much a perfect TV series. And now, its British remake Ten Percent is almost here.
The word “remake” doesn’t usually contain a lot of promise, especially when the original version is incredible as is, but this one actually looks pretty good. The British version of the show, called Ten Percent (a literal translation of show’s original French title) has reportedly recruited the very funny BAFTA-award winning writer John Morton (W1A), who is apparently keen to “retain the essence of the French series” with an injection of Britishness for good measure. The eight-episode series will be produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures.
“We knew we needed to keep the essence of what made the original so beloved but we also knew that we had to do something different in order to create our own audience,” David Davoli, President of Television at BRON Studios told Variety in January 2021.
“Otherwise, we felt that there was a risk that we would just be seen to be copying something. In art, there’s people who copy and then there’s people who create impressions,” he added. “And for us, this was more of an impression than a copy.”
The UK cast includes Jack Davenport, who looks eerily like a younger version of his French counterpart Thibault de Montalembert; Lydia Leonard; Prasanna Puwanarajah; and Jim Broadbent.
Meanwhile, celebrities who will be making cameos include Helena Bonham Carter, Phoebe Dynevor, David Oyelowo, Jessica Oyelowo, Dominic West, Emma Corrin, Kelly Macdonald, and Himesh Patel.
