Katy Perry Sent Taylor Swift A Literal Olive Branch And This Beef Is Officially Over

If you keep up with celebrity beefs, you’ll already know that the bad blood between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift is the stuff of legend.
So before we get into the breaking news that this beef might finally be over, it’s worth recapping just how it all started. Way back in 2013, a number of backup dancers reportedly ditched Swift’s world tour to go work with Perry — a move which caused Swift to unsubtly call Perry out in a Rolling Stone profile, and for Perry to clap back with a number of equally unsubtle tweets.
Nearly a year after this Swift released the single ‘Bad Blood’, which was probably the loudest subtweet ever recorded.
Things between the two artists were quiet for a while, but last year things heated up again when Perry said she wanted to bury the hatchet with Swift during an episode of Carpool Karaoke. But this forgive-and-forget sentiment was slightly muddled by Perry’s decision to then release ‘Swish Swish’, a song which was essentially about putting Swift in a casket.
Taylor got the last laugh though: after keeping her music off Spotify for years, she chose to release her entire back catalogue to the streaming service on the exact same day as Perry released her new album Witness. Which is some next level, dastardly shit.
Which brings us up to day. Last night, just hours before taking the stage on the opening night of her Reputation world tour, Swift shared a video on Instagram showing a package that Perry had apparently sent to her… containing a single olive branch.

“So I just got to my dressing room and found this actual olive branch,” Swift says in the video. “This means so much to me.”
The note next to the olive branch is pretty hard to see in the video, but the first line is decipherable: “Hey old friend,” it reads. “I’ve been doing some reflecting on past miscommunications and hurt feelings between us. I really want to clear the air…”.
And with that, the biggest celebrity beef of the last decade is apparently over.
