This Taylor Swift Fan Schooled Her Family On ‘folklore’ With A Detailed PowerPoint Presentation
"It feels like 'The Great Gatsby' but from the female perspective."
It feels like years ago that Taylor Swift released folklore, her gently devastating eighth record.
Perhaps that’s because the discourse surrounding the record has been endless and inescapable — from the many, many memes that have cropped up in honour of album’s bleak and intimate themes, to the uproar over the behaviour of some Swift stans who were sending death threats and doxing journalists over slightly negative reviews (or in one case, a positive review).
In the latest folklore news, Swift was forced to alter her new merch after being accused of “blatant theft” over the album logo. All that, in just over a week.
Still, we were grievously lacking in PowerPoint presentations, making this new content a welcome addition. TikTok user @kenzieelyses uploaded a video over the weekend of her sister giving an incredibly detailed presentation about the album, including the various influences and inspirations, song meanings, and relevant public discourse.
“It feels like The Great Gatsby but from the female perspective,” she says earnestly about the track ‘the last great american dynasty’, before describing ‘cardigan’ as a “matured Speak Now Taylor”, and explaining that track five is “always” the saddest song on a Swift album.
“I’d like to define this as a cultural shift, a beautiful album,” she sums it up.
