Watch Tame Impala’s Dreamy Cover Of Lady Gaga’s ‘Perfect Illusion’
Expect to hear this one at their upcoming Australian shows.
A month on from the release of fourth album The Slow Rush, Tame Impala have officially kicked off their world tour.
Kevin Parker and co. debuted a stack of material off the album in San Diego last night — including ‘Reality in Motion’ and ‘Posthumous Forgiveness’ — and they also cranked out a cover of Lady Gaga’s 2016 single ‘Perfect Illusion’. Parker was a co-writer on the track alongside Mark Ronson, but this marks the first time the band have played it live.
They keep pretty close to the original melody, but dress it up well with some trademarked TP synths and guitars — watch fan footage of the cover below.
Tame Impala will hit the ground in Australia next month, playing arenas around the country — to check out all dates and ticket details, head here. They’ve also just announced a slew of eco-friendly tour initiatives, being the good blokes that they are, which include donating unused food and toiletries to local shelters, recycling backstage, plus on tour buses, and funding projects that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

.@tameimpala adds “Perfect Illusion” to their tour setlist! Gaga and Kevin Parker, the band’s lead vocalist, worked on the song back in 2016. ✨ pic.twitter.com/cRm4h6POEI
