"I hope I score a tackle for my team!"

The Super Bowl is on, and that’s very exciting for a lot of people! We simply have to stan that beautiful bowl. And you know what the Super Bowl means — the Super Bowl Halftime show.

For many gays all over the world, the halftime show has absolutely eclipsed the actual Super Bowl football game, and that’s fine.

There’s enough room in the world for people who like to watch a bunch of men fight for a ball, and for people who just want to watch the bizarre team-up of Beyoncé and Bruno Mars and their lovely singing time.

Something for everyone! Bowls! Footballs! Singing.

But, for many years now, the best part of the Super Bowl for me is watching this (somewhat obscure perhaps, I am not sure) Halftime sketch from Saturday Night Live. The skit imagines the scenario of the Halftime act failing to arrive on time, so instead being replaced by a… musical.

A musical reimagining of a big sports game? It’s so extremely me.

I have a lot of favourite parts — Aidy Bryant saying “Oh my” at the “Fabulous Super Bowl ring”? The young man flamboyantly singing “I hope I score a tackle for my team!” The COSTUMES. Basically Taram Killam’s entire performance.

It’s so funny. It’s one of my favourite ‘Saturday Night Live’ sketches.

But the thing that makes me laugh the most is the Cats nod right at the end. Anyway, go watch it.
