A Tense Teaser Trailer For ‘Succession’ Season 4 Has Leaked And, Oh My God
Everyone's favourite filthy rich dysfunctional family is coming back very soon.
It’s creeping up on a year since we last saw the Roy siblings, but finally, HBO just shared our first look at the fourth season of Succession.
To recap, the intense Emmy-award-winning finale of Season 3 saw Roman (Kieran Culkin), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Kendall (Jeremy Strong) attempt to steal their patriarchal tyrant father Logan’s (Brian Cox) majority in their company, Waystar Royco.
In a devastating twist, the trio discover that Logan convinced their mother to sell him back the kids’ majority shares before they even arrived to depose him. Just to twist the knife further, Shiv realises it was her husband, Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) who betrayed their plan to Logan.
The botched manoeuvre left the siblings with even less power against their father than before, and with far fewer allies. Shiv lost all power she had to her husband’s treachery, Kendall kissed his position as Logan’s prodigal puppet goodbye, and Roman gained confidence with his siblings at the cost of losing his so-called mummy-girlfriend right-hand woman, Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron).
Now, our first glimpse at Season 4 teases a truly unforgettable aftermath in which the trio of siblings will bear the consequences of their rebellion against their father. But will their rediscovered allegiance as “new gen Roys” survive their failed coup?
There are plenty of shots of Shiv, Roman, and Kendall as a united front in the new teaser. Now on the outside more than ever before, their smug eldest sibling, Connor (Alan Ruck) bequeaths the trio as “the rebel alliance”.
The trailer also teases a lavish remote Norwegian location, most probably the lair of streaming platform Gojo CEO, Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgard). In the Season 3 finale, the question of a merger and whether Gojo was going to buy out Waystar Royco, or vice versa, was left hanging in the air.
It seems Season 4 will likely follow the negotiations of a buyout, but who will buy who? Well, we’ll have to wait until next year to know. In the meantime, watch the trailer below.
Succession season 4 will air in Australia in Autumn 2023.
